Israel Leadership Seminar – Camper Blog #2

(Written by ILS Participants) After three days in Jerusalem, ILS hopped onto the bus and traveled north to the Galilee. We’ve done so many things already and it’s hard to believe it’s only been a few days.

Sunday morning we visited Caesarea and learned about Jewish life in ancient Roman cities. We got to perform a slightly under-prepared talent show in the theater while we were there. We were also able to visit Tsfat and learn about the history of the city. The art there was so beautiful, and we had fun browsing the different shops.

The next day, we took a hike along the Nahal Jilaboun river. Even if the rocks were a little hard to maneuver, the struggle was worth it in the end when we got to swim under a waterfall! Later that day we visited a Druze community and learned about their culture over a great meal. We finished our long day with a rafting trip on the Jordan River.

Soon, we had another rafting adventure where we actually had to build our own rafts! Our day of water activities continued at Aqua Kef, a floating water park in the Sea of Galilee. After drying off, we headed to the first Israeli kibbutz called Old Gesher. It was so interesting to learn about the first kibbutz just a few days before we get to live in one. To end the day we boarded a cruise ship on the Sea of Galilee.

We danced till we were exhausted, and it felt just like camp. We had so much fun near the Galilee and we can’t wait for our time in Beit Shean to start. Shalom from ILS!
