“Camp for Everyone!” Summer 2015 / Volume 2 Issue 6

Hello Camp Wise Families, friends, and community members!

It’s your friendly Retreat Manager here, Nick Goldman. I want to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about some of the awesome end of summer programs that we offer during the month of August. Whether you want to try out camp for a potential future camper, relive your childhood days, or offer a taste of camp to adults with diverse needs, we have a program for you!

Family camp picCamp Wise Family Camp is a 2 night 3 day weekend where families come out to camp and get to enjoy all that camp has to offer. Fifteen of our amazing summer staff helps us run the weekend full of fun, excitement, and new friends! The programming ranges from jet skiing and high ropes to creating a radio show or hanging out by a bon fire, and everything in between. At night we send our staff into the cabins to hang out with the kids and give the adults a break to come to our dining hall and enjoy some adults only programming. This weekend is designed to be a blast for everyone involved!

women's weekendCamp Wise Women’s Weekend is a rejuvenating weekend for women of all ages to take a break from the real world and come enjoy the peaceful rustic environment that is Camp Wise. We know that relaxing and “getting away from it all” looks very different for everyone, so for this weekend we offer as much or as little programming as the women are interested in doing. We open up many of our activity areas, keep the pool open all weekend, and each participant gets a massage from one of our very own massage therapists. Women can spend the weekend going from one activity to the next or hanging out by the pool reading a book or their favorite magazine. We want everyone to leave this weekend feeling refreshed and ready to dive back into their day to day lives! Women of all ages are welcome.

alumwiseOur second annual Alumni Camp will be Labor Day weekend and we could not be more excited! This weekend is designed for all of our alumni no matter if you attended camp in the 20’s or a few years ago. We love to connect with our alumni and there is no better place to do that than the “Home of Happiness,” right where it all started! Last year was the first year we offered this program and it was a huge hit. We had past campers, counselors, and supervisors come together to spend their days enjoying camp programming and spend their evenings reminiscing around the camp fire with old friends and new. We can’t wait to see this program grow over the next few years.

We believe camp is something that everyone deserves to experience, no matter their needs. With this mission in mind we offer Camp Chai, a program for adults with diverse needs. Adults who require varied levels of support come to camp with a dedicated group of camp staff and experience all the fun activities and programs that camp has to offer. Some of these activities are boating, tie dying, our ropes course, and several different sports. Last summer was our 10th summer running this program, and every year it is my favorite group to work with!

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and I would love to see you at one of these programs at the end of the summer. You can find more information about these programs by clicking here or by contacting the camp office at 216-593-6250 or wiseretreat@mandeljcc.org.

Happy Camping!
