All About Wise

Meet Our Year-Round Team

Sean Morgan

Director

Since the fall 2008, Sean has been calling Camp Wise his home. He has been involved in Jewish overnight camping for almost 20 years and has played a significant role in the growth and success of Camp Wise. His camping career started at Camp Sabra, the St. Louis JCC's overnight camp. After many years as a camper and a staff member at Sabra he finally made the leap to the full-time Assitant Director. Before landing at CW, he spent a few years at Camp Lakeland, the Buffalo JCC's overnight camp, also as the Assistant Director. Sean graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 2003 with a BS in Education. After spending some time in the classroom he knew that being at summer camp was his true calling. Ask him any day and he will tell you, “There is no better classroom than camp.” Currently he is completing his Master's in Camp Administration and Leadership through Touro Univeristy Nevada as one of the Foundation for Jewish Camp's Robert and Elise Spungen Bildner Graduate Fellows. It's safe to say camp is in his blood!

Rachel Felber

Assistant Director

Rachel is excited to return home to Cleveland for 11th summer at camp. Before becoming an assistant director at Wise, she spent 5 years at the Austin, TX JCC where she helped reenergize their youth and teen programming, as well as their day camp, Camp Shalom. Most of her time in Austin was spent working with teens as the Assistant Director of the Youth & Teen Department and the BBYO City Director. Rachel earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Clark University. She also holds a master’s degree from the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences at Case Western Reserve University during which time she was a participant in the JCC Association Graduate Scholarship program. Rachel recently completed the JCC Association Merrin Teen Professional Fellowship - a two year professional development program. Rachel is looking forward to reconnecting with former campers (who are now counselors and supervisors) and making new friends with all the campers, staff, and alumni.

Andy Saltzman

Assistant Director

Andy is super psyched to return to Camp Wise after years apart from “The Home of Hapiness.” Although it’s nice to be greeted with the “Welcome Song” as a visitor, Andy says nothing compares to being a part of the magic at Camp Wise. After graduating with a B.A. in Political Science and Education from Bates College, Andy wondered west to work in Outdoor and Environmental Education. Andy has worked in many different positions from a Backcountry Guide in the Bighorn Mountains

of Wyoming, to a Field Instructor of Environmental Science outside of Portland, Oregon, to a History Teacher in Prescott, Arizona. Even though the Wild West is great, there is nowhere else he would rather hike in the woods, sing in the Chadar, stargaze (on the Ohalim Rec.), and spend his summer days hanging out with the most fun campers and staff in the world. As he charges forward into his “sweet sixteenth” summer at Camp Wise he is eager to get to know all the campers, staff, families and alumni that make Camp Wise the best summer camp ever.

Cathy Becker

Cathy is married to Paul and is the mother of Allison (Aaron), a CW alum. She's the proud grammy of Isaac and Brooke, future CW campers! When you call the Camp Wise office, it's Cathy's friendly voice you'll hear on the other end of the line!

Erin Witschey

Retreat Coordinator

Originally from Wadsworth, Ohio, Erin earned her undergraduate degree in Therapeutic Recreation at Ashland University. During her summers she worked at Kelleys Island 4-H Camp and Easter Seals Camp ASCCA as an arts & crafts and adventure instructor. After graduating, Erin moved to Dingman's Ferry, PA to work at Camp Speers-Eljabar YMCA as the Associate Program Director of Conferences where she worked with user groups throughout the year and organized summer programming for Camp Eljabar. In 2008, she packed her bags and headed south to Jackson’s Gap, Alabama. There she become the Aquatics Director at Camp ASCCA and spent four years there running their pool and waterfront, as well as teaching crazy camp songs! Now the Retreat Coordinator at Camp Wise, Erin can't wait to work with all the groups and join in all the summer fun!

Beth Young

Special Projects

Beth Young’s very first summer at the “Home of Happiness” was in 1980 as an Ohalim camper. She returned in  1985 for her first summer on staff - as the director’s babysitter – and has been hooked ever since! A graduate of Cleveland Heights High School, Beth has her B.S. in Education from the University of Cincinnati and has taught preschool, 3rd grade and 6th grade in the classroom. She is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Special Education at Ursuline College. Beth is returning in 2012 for her 10th consecutive summer as Pool Director, and prior to that spent 10 non-consecutive summers in various roles. Beth shares her love for Camp Wise with her two children, Cyrus and Irene, who have both been campers since they were in diapers! During the off-season Beth works part-time for camp, coordinating our newsletters, reaching out to alumni, and helping in the office.
