All About Wise

Meet Our Year-Round Team

Sean Morgan

Director

Sean is entering his 4th year with CW and was recently named Director of Camp Wise after spending 3 years as the Assistant Director. He has been involved in Jewish overnight camping for almost 20 years and has played a significant role in the growth and success of Camp Wise. His camping career started at Camp Sabra, the St. Louis JCC's overnight camp. After many years as a camper and a staff member at Sabra he finally made the leap to the full-time Assitant Director. Before landing at CW, he spent a few years at Camp Lakeland, the Buffalo JCC's overnight camp, also as the Assistant Director. Sean graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 2003 with a BS in Education. After spending some time in the classroom he knew that being at summer camp was his true calling. Ask him any day and he will tell you, “There is no better classroom than camp.” Currently he is completing his Master's in Camp Administration and Leadership through Touro Univeristy Nevada as one of the Foundation for Jewish Camp's Robert and Elise Spungen Bildner Graduate Fellows. It's safe to say camp is in his blood!

Jennie Post

Assistant Director of Campers

Born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio, Jennie received her undergraduate degree in biology from Dartmouth College in the spring of 2008 and just completed her master's degree in science education from the University of Florida. Her first camp job was with the Sarasota JCC's Camp Etgar as a counselor and canoe specialist. After receiving 10 years of letters from her little brother Michael postmarked from 13164 Taylor Wells Road, she finally arrived for her very first summer at Camp Wise in 2007. She fell in love with the contagious spirit of CW after her first day! Jennie spent three summers at Wise as a village supervisor and then spent 2 years as the Program Director. She is now super excited to take on the role of Assistant Director of Campers! Jennie not only manages camper life in the summer, but she's also the friendly face you'll see at camp if you're there during the year for a retreat or program!

Cathy Becker

Camp Registrar

Cathy Becker is a native Clevelander who graduated from Shaker Heights High School and Washington University in St. Louis. A retired school teacher, Cathy started working at Camp Wise in 1994 as her "summer job." Atfer eight summers she began full-time as the camp registrar, and now it's been more than 15 summers!. Cathy is married to Paul and is the mother of Allison (Aaron), a CW alum. She's the proud grammy of Isaac and Brooke, future CW campers! When you call the Camp Wise office, it's Cathy's friendly voice you'll hear on the other end of the line!

Jessica Semel

 Retreat Center Coordinator

Jessica Bell Semel’s first summer at Camp Wise was as a counselor in the early ‘80s. A native Clevelander, Jessica earned her BA from The University of Michigan, and her Master’s Degrees in Social Work and Jewish History from Baltimore Hebrew College and The University of Maryland. After 10 years of working in Ithaca, NY as the Associate Director of Cornell Hillel, Jessica returned to Cleveland with her family. Back home in Cleveland, she has worked at the JCC in various capacities for 13 years. After working as Camp Wise’s 100th Anniversary Coordinator, she couldn’t tear herself away (Editorial Note: And we couldn’t part with her!), and so she has continued her work with camp as the Retreat Center Coordinator, developing the use of our newly-winterized facilities.

Beth Young

Special Projects

Beth Young’s very first summer at the “Home of Happiness” was in 1980 as an Ohalim camper. She returned in  1985 for her first summer on staff - as the director’s babysitter – and has been hooked ever since! A graduate of Cleveland Heights High School, Beth has her B.S. in Education from the University of Cincinnati and has taught preschool, 3rd grade and 6th grade in the classroom. She is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Special Education at Ursuline College. Beth is returning in 2011 for her 9th consecutive summer as Pool Director, and prior to that spent 10 non-consecutive summers in various roles. Beth shares her love for Camp Wise with her two children, Cyrus and Irene, who have both been campers since they were in diapers! During the off-season Beth works part-time for camp, coordinating our newsletters, reaching out to alumni, and helping in the office.
